HP EliteBook 840 G1-G2 Keyboard, Non-Backlit (P/N 731179-001)

HP EliteBook 840 G1-G2 Keyboard Replacement, Non-Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your HP EliteBook 840 G1 or 840 G2 with this genuine-fit HP EliteBook 840 G1-G2 Keyboard replacement (P/N 731179-001). A direct drop-in fit built to the original factory specification.

The 840 G1/G2 generation was one of HP’s most widely deployed corporate EliteBook chassis, and this keyboard is tooled to that exact key well rather than adapted from a different 840 revision. It is a common fix after a liquid spill, a cracked keycap, or years of daily use wearing certain letters down until they no longer register presses reliably. Businesses running fleets of these laptops often keep a few spares on hand precisely because keyboard failure is one of the most frequent hardware faults on machines this age.

Key Features & Benefits

• Direct Fit – matches the original 840 G1/G2 keyboard well exactly
• Brand New – not refurbished
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard
• Full Key Travel – restores normal typing feel
• One Part, Two Models – a single SKU covering both 840 G1 and G2 repairs
• Durable Legends – printed key labels that resist fading with daily use
• Firm Backing Plate – reduces flex compared to a worn or damaged original keyboard

Performance & Reliability

Built specifically for the HP EliteBook 840 G1-G2 Keyboard well, this replacement is fit-tested before listing to guarantee a precise match and reliable everyday typing performance.

Because the connector and mounting points match the factory chassis exactly, there is no wobble, no keys sitting proud of the deck, and no intermittent presses that often come with mismatched aftermarket substitutes. Key switches are rated for the same duty cycle as the original HP component, so the keyboard holds up to daily office typing rather than wearing out again within months.

Compatibility

Fits HP EliteBook 840 G1 and HP EliteBook 840 G2 laptops sharing part number 731179-001. Confirm your exact model before ordering, since HP reused similar-looking chassis across several EliteBook generations and an incorrect match can leave the trackpad cable or screw holes misaligned.

Safety & Quality Standards

Every keyboard is inspected for correct pinout, key travel, and frame fit before shipping, protecting your motherboard connector from damage during installation.

Easy Installation

Power off and unplug the laptop, remove the battery, release the keyboard retaining screws or clips, disconnect the ribbon cable, and fit the new keyboard by reversing the steps. Any laptop repair technician in Kenya can also fit it for you.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

Ideal for professionals running HP EliteBook 840 G1/G2 laptops who need a fast, affordable fix for missing or unresponsive keys. It also suits IT departments standardising spare parts across a mixed 840 G1/G2 fleet, and repair shops handling walk-in swaps for either model year.
