HP CQ42/G42 Keyboard, Non-Backlit (P/N 590121-001)

HP CQ42 G42 Keyboard Replacement, Non-Backlit

Restore full typing function to your HP Compaq CQ42 or HP G42 laptop with this genuine-fit HP CQ42 G42 Keyboard replacement (P/N 590121-001). If keys are missing, sticking, or completely unresponsive, this direct drop-in keyboard is built to the original factory specification and restores your laptop to full working order.

These budget-friendly CQ42 and G42 models were widely sold across Kenya as everyday home and student laptops, so replacement keyboards for them are frequently needed after a spill, a dropped bag, or simply years of daily typing wearing the most-used keys down.

Key Features & Benefits

• Direct Fit – matches the original CQ42/G42 keyboard well and mounting points exactly
• Brand New – not refurbished or pulled from a used unit
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard
• Full Key Travel – restores normal typing feel and responsiveness
• Affordable Fix – a fraction of the cost of a full laptop replacement
• Durable Legends – printed key labels that resist fading with daily use
• Firm Backing Plate – reduces flex compared to a worn or damaged original keyboard

Performance & Reliability

Built specifically for the HP CQ42 G42 Keyboard chassis, this replacement keyboard is compatibility-tested before listing to guarantee a precise fit. Each key is quality-checked for consistent travel and response, so you get the same reliable typing performance as the original factory keyboard – without the wobble or dead keys of a worn-out unit.

Because it matches the factory pinout and connector exactly, there is no risk of intermittent connections or keys that drop out under normal use, a common issue with mismatched generic keyboards sold without a confirmed part-number match.

Compatibility

Designed to fit the HP Compaq CQ42 and HP G42 laptop series. Always confirm your exact model number against the part number (590121-001) before ordering, as HP reused similar chassis designs across several sub-models.

Safety & Quality Standards

Every keyboard is inspected for correct pinout, key travel, and frame fit before it leaves our warehouse. Using a proper replacement part – rather than a generic aftermarket copy – protects your motherboard connector from damage during installation and ensures long-term reliability.

Easy Installation

This keyboard is designed as a straightforward swap for anyone comfortable with basic laptop disassembly: power off and unplug the laptop, remove the battery, release the keyboard retaining clips or screws, disconnect the ribbon cable, and reverse the steps with the new keyboard. If you are not confident doing this yourself, any laptop repair technician in Kenya can fit it in minutes.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

Perfect for students, office workers, and businesses running older HP Compaq CQ42 or G42 laptops who want to avoid the cost of a full laptop replacement. Ideal if your keyboard has missing keycaps, liquid damage, or keys that no longer register presses. It also suits parents keeping a family laptop usable for schoolwork, and small repair shops that need a reliable, correctly matched part for walk-in customers.
