Lenovo ThinkPad X280/X390 Keyboard, Non-Backlit (FRU 01YP028)

Lenovo ThinkPad X280/X390 Replacement Keyboard, Non-Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your Lenovo ThinkPad X280 or X390 with this genuine-fit replacement (FRU 01YP028). A direct drop-in fit built to the original specification. Both models share the same 12.5-inch chassis and keyboard well, so this single FRU covers either laptop without needing to hunt down a model-specific part.

Key Features

• Direct Fit – matches the original X280/X390 layout
• Brand New – not refurbished
• Easy Installation – designed as a straightforward swap
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard
• Genuine FRU Match – built to Lenovo’s 01YP028 pinout and mounting points for a factory-accurate fit
• Signature ThinkPad Feel – keeps the familiar concave keycap shape and confident travel ThinkPad typists expect

Performance & Reliability

Every unit is checked key by key for consistent actuation force and full travel before it ships, so there are no dead keys or spots that need extra pressure to register. The frame is verified for correct screw-hole alignment against genuine X280/X390 chassis, since a poor fit is what usually causes budget replacements to rattle loose or wear out the ribbon connector early. Frequent travelers who rely on these ultraportable ThinkPads for daily typing will notice the tighter, more confident feel right away.

Compatibility

Fits Lenovo ThinkPad X280 and X390 laptops sharing FRU 01YP028 (non-backlit). Confirm your exact model before ordering, since a separate backlit variant uses a different FRU.

Safety & Quality Standards

Every keyboard is inspected for correct pinout, key travel, and frame fit before shipping, protecting your motherboard connector from damage during installation.

Easy Installation

Power off and unplug the laptop, remove the battery if it is removable, release the keyboard retaining screws or clips, disconnect the ribbon cable, and fit the new keyboard by reversing the steps. Any laptop repair technician in Kenya can also fit it for you.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

Ideal for professionals running the Lenovo ThinkPad X280/X390 who need a fast, affordable fix for missing or unresponsive keys. It also suits consultants and executives who travel with a light machine, IT departments servicing X-series fleets, and owners who prefer repairing a proven ultraportable over replacing it entirely.
