HP EliteBook X360 1040 G4/G5 Keyboard, Backlit (P/N L02267-001)

HP EliteBook X360 1040 G4/G5 Replacement Keyboard, Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your HP EliteBook X360 1040 G4 or G5 convertible laptop with this genuine-fit backlit replacement (P/N L02267-001). A direct drop-in fit built to the original specification.

Both model years share the same fold-flat convertible chassis, so this one genuine-fit part covers keyboard repairs across both generations without needing separate stock. As with any 360-degree hinge design, the keyboard deck has to sit slim and rigid so it folds flush against the display in tablet mode, and this replacement is tooled to that exact tolerance rather than adapted from a standard clamshell keyboard. Cracked keycaps, dead key rows, and a backlight that no longer illuminates are the most common reasons this part gets replaced.

Key Features

• Backlit Keys – type comfortably in low light, with even brightness across the deck
• Direct Fit – matches the original X360 1040 G4/G5 layout, including trackpoint and mouse buttons
• Brand New – not refurbished, not a used pull
• Includes Backlight Cable – ready to install straight out of the box
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard with correct legends
• Slim, Rigid Profile – built to sit flush when the display is folded back in tablet mode
• Consistent Key Feel – factory-matched travel and actuation force
• One Part, Two Models – a single SKU to stock for both G4 and G5 repairs

Compatibility & Installation

Built specifically for the HP EliteBook X360 1040 G4 and G5 chassis, this keyboard uses the same connector and pinout as the original part, plugging straight into the existing motherboard header. Because convertible laptops route extra cabling through the keyboard deck for the touch and pen digitiser, installation is best handled carefully with basic tools, and most technicians complete the swap in 20-30 minutes without disturbing the hinge assembly. The mounting points match the factory chassis exactly, so no trimming or forcing is required.

Performance & Reliability

Every unit is bench-tested for key response and backlight uniformity before it leaves our warehouse, so there are no dead keys or dim zones out of the box. The key switches are rated for the same duty cycle as the original HP part, and the low-profile design holds up to repeated folding into tent, tablet, and stand modes without the wobble sometimes seen in generic aftermarket keyboards. Backlight brightness stays even across the compact deck rather than dimming in the corners.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

This replacement suits business users who rely on the X360’s tablet and stand modes for presentations and note-taking, repair technicians handling convertible keyboard swaps across both G4 and G5 units, and IT departments maintaining a mixed fleet of X360 1040 laptops used across sales or field teams. It also suits resellers refreshing used convertible units before resale.
