HP ProBook 440 G6-G7 Keyboard, Backlit (P/N L44588-001)

HP ProBook 440 G6-G7 Replacement Keyboard, Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your HP ProBook 440 G6 or G7 with this genuine-fit backlit replacement (P/N L44588-001). A direct drop-in fit built to the original specification.

Both model years share the same 14-inch key well and mounting layout, so this one genuine-fit part covers keyboard repairs across both generations without needing separate stock. If your current keyboard has cracked or missing keycaps, a backlight that no longer works, or key rows that have stopped responding, this replacement restores it to full working order. It is also a common fix after a liquid spill has left certain keys sticky or unreliable, or after years of daily typing have simply worn the switches down.

Key Features

• Backlit Keys – type comfortably in low light, evenly lit across the deck
• Direct Fit – matches the original ProBook 440 G6/G7 layout precisely
• Brand New – not refurbished, not a used pull
• Includes Backlight Cable – ready to install straight out of the box
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard with correct legends
• Reinforced Frame – solid backing plate minimises flex during typing
• Consistent Key Feel – factory-matched travel and actuation force
• One Part, Two Models – a single SKU to stock for both G6 and G7 repairs

Compatibility & Installation

Built specifically for the shared HP ProBook 440 G6 and G7 chassis, this keyboard uses the same connector and pinout as the original part, so it plugs straight into the existing motherboard header. Most swaps take 15-20 minutes with a small screwdriver, and the mounting tabs line up exactly with the factory chassis, so there is no cutting, filing, or forcing required. The palm rest and trackpad stay untouched throughout the process, and no bracket modification is needed.

Performance & Reliability

Every keyboard is bench-tested for key response and backlight evenness before it is packed for shipping, so there are no dead keys or dim zones out of the box. The key switches are rated for the same duty cycle as the original HP part, holding up to daily office or classroom typing rather than wearing out within months like some low-cost substitutes. Backlight brightness stays consistent whether the laptop is a G6 or G7 build, without dim patches near the edges.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

This replacement suits professionals and students using either the 440 G6 or G7 as a daily-use laptop, repair technicians who need one reliable part to cover both model years, and IT departments keeping a single spare part number in stock for mixed ProBook 440 fleets. It also suits resellers refreshing used units before resale.
