HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Keyboard, Backlit (P/N 850915-001)

HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Keyboard Replacement, Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 with this genuine-fit HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Keyboard replacement (P/N 850915-001). A direct drop-in fit built to the original factory specification. The Folio 1040 was HP’s flagship slim business ultrabook of its generation, and its low-profile chiclet keys and backlight module are more delicate than a standard laptop keyboard, so failures often show up as backlight dropouts alongside dead or sticking keys rather than total failure.

Key Features & Benefits

• Backlit Keys – type comfortably in low light
• Direct Fit – matches the original Folio 1040 G1 keyboard well exactly
• Brand New – not refurbished
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard
• Working Backlight Circuit – the full LED backlight assembly is tested, not just the key switches
• Slim Profile Match – built to the same low-profile height as the original Folio deck for a seamless fit
• Factory Ribbon Connector – matches the 850915-001 pinout for a straightforward plug-in swap

Performance & Reliability

Built specifically for the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 Keyboard well, this replacement is fit-tested before listing to guarantee a precise match and reliable everyday typing performance.

Because backlighting is a common failure point on Folio-series keyboards, every unit is powered up and checked for even illumination across all keys before it’s packed, not just tested for key response. The frame is also checked for flatness on this thin chassis, where even a slight warp is more noticeable than on a thicker consumer laptop.

Compatibility

Fits HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 laptops, part number 850915-001. Confirm your exact model before ordering.

The Folio 1040 G1 uses a distinct ultra-slim keyboard mount that differs from the later G2 and G3 Folio revisions, so parts are not interchangeable across generations despite looking similar. Check the system label on the base of your laptop for “850915-001” or the G1 designation before ordering to avoid a mismatch.

Safety & Quality Standards

Every keyboard is inspected for correct pinout, key travel, and frame fit before shipping, protecting your motherboard connector from damage during installation.

Easy Installation

Power off and unplug the laptop, remove the battery, release the keyboard retaining screws or clips, disconnect the ribbon cable, and fit the new keyboard by reversing the steps. Any laptop repair technician in Kenya can also fit it for you.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

Ideal for professionals running the HP EliteBook Folio 1040 G1 who need a fast, affordable fix for missing or unresponsive keys. It suits executives and consultants who travel frequently and rely on the backlight for evening work, corporate IT teams maintaining a fleet of ageing EliteBook ultrabooks, and technicians repairing premium business laptops for clients who expect the backlight to work exactly as it did from the factory. It’s also the right fix for anyone who’s noticed patchy or dim backlighting rather than fully dead keys.
