HP EliteBook 850 G5-G6 Keyboard, Backlit (P/N L11999-001)

HP EliteBook 850 G5-G6 Replacement Keyboard, Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your HP EliteBook 850 G5 or 850 G6 with this genuine-fit backlit replacement (P/N L11999-001). A direct drop-in fit built to the original specification.

As the 15.6-inch sibling of the 840 series, the EliteBook 850 uses a wider key deck with a full-size arrow cluster, and this replacement is tooled specifically to that layout rather than being cut down from a smaller keyboard. Whether your current keyboard has cracked keycaps, a dead backlight, or rows of keys that no longer respond, this part restores it to factory condition. It is also a common fix for laptops where liquid has gotten under a section of the deck and left certain keys sticky or unresponsive, or where heavy daily use has simply worn the switches out.

Key Features

• Backlit Keys – type comfortably in low light, evenly lit across the wider 850 deck
• Direct Fit – matches the original 850 G5/G6 layout, including the full arrow key cluster
• Brand New – not refurbished, not a used pull
• Includes Backlight Cable – ready to install straight out of the box
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard with correct legends
• Reinforced Deck – reduced flex under typing pressure across the larger key area
• Consistent Key Travel – factory-matched feel rather than a shallow substitute
• Clean Legend Printing – crisp, laser-etched key labels that resist wearing off

Compatibility & Installation

Built specifically for the HP EliteBook 850 G5 and 850 G6 chassis, this keyboard uses the same connector and pinout as the original part, plugging straight into the existing motherboard header. Installation typically takes 15-20 minutes with a small screwdriver, and because the mounting points match the factory chassis exactly, there is no need to force, trim, or bend the new keyboard into place. The palm rest and trackpad assembly stay untouched during the swap.

Performance & Reliability

Every unit is bench-tested for key response and backlight uniformity before it is packed for shipping, so there are no unresponsive keys or dim backlight zones out of the box. Given the 850’s larger keyboard area, backlight consistency across the full width of the deck is checked specifically, since uneven lighting is one of the most common faults with poorly matched aftermarket keyboards. The key switches are rated for the same duty cycle as the original HP part.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

This replacement suits professionals who rely on the 850’s larger keyboard and numeric-style arrow cluster for spreadsheet and data entry work, repair technicians handling EliteBook 850 fleet repairs, and IT departments keeping spares on hand for corporate 850 G5/G6 deployments. It is equally practical for resellers preparing used 850 units for resale before they go back on the market.
