HP EliteBook 830 G5-G6 Keyboard, Backlit (P/N L13697-001)

HP EliteBook 830 G5-G6 Replacement Keyboard, Backlit

Fix a broken or unresponsive keyboard on your HP EliteBook 830 G5 or 830 G6 with this genuine-fit backlit replacement (P/N L13697-001). A direct drop-in fit built to the original specification.

Whether you are dealing with sticky keys, missing keycaps, unresponsive rows, or a backlight that no longer lights up, this replacement restores full typing function without the compromises of a generic aftermarket part. It is manufactured to match the exact key spacing, travel, and mounting points of the factory HP keyboard, so installation follows the same screw and clip points as the original. No drilling, filing, or bracket modification is required.

Key Features

• Backlit Keys – type comfortably in low light, with even illumination across the full key matrix
• Direct Fit – matches the original 830 G5/G6 layout, including function-row shortcuts and the trackpoint cutout
• Brand New – not refurbished, not pulled from a used unit
• Includes Backlight Cable – ready to install, no need to source a separate cable
• US Layout – standard QWERTY English keyboard with correctly labelled function keys
• Factory Key Travel – full-depth key mechanism feel, not a shallow low-cost substitute
• Reinforced Frame – rigid backing plate that reduces flex during heavy typing

Compatibility & Installation

This keyboard is built specifically for the HP EliteBook 830 G5 and 830 G6 chassis and uses the same connector pinout as the original part, so it plugs straight into the existing motherboard header. Most technicians complete the swap in under 20 minutes with standard screwdrivers, and the display assembly does not need to come off. Because it is a direct P/N L13697-001 match, there is no need to transplant the backlight sheet or top cover from your old keyboard.

Performance & Reliability

Each keyboard runs through a key-press and backlight test before it leaves our warehouse, so every switch registers correctly and the illumination is even and consistent across all keyboard zones. The membrane underneath the keys is rated for normal daily typing over years of use, matching the durability expected from an HP factory component rather than a budget clone.

Because the part is built to the original L13697-001 specification, it does not introduce the wobble, mushy feel, or uneven backlighting that often comes with generic aftermarket keyboards sold without a proper part-number match.

Ideal Users & Use Cases

This replacement suits IT technicians and repair shops handling EliteBook 830 fleet repairs, as well as individual owners whose keyboard has failed after a spill, worn keycaps, or physical damage. It also works well for businesses standardising spare parts stock for EliteBook 830 G5 and G6 units still in active service.
